A Chinese blue Beijing glass octagonal bottle vase, Qianlong mark, with an Emery & Cie, Paris label — Republic period (1912–1949)
A Chinese blue Beijing glass octagonal bottle vase, Qianlong mark, with an Emery & Cie, Paris label — Republic period (1912–1949)
A Chinese blue Beijing glass octagonal bottle vase of elegant faceted form, executed in deep cobalt-blue glass and bearing a four-character Qianlong mark to the base. The rich colour and refined proportions reflect the continued appreciation of imperial glass traditions during the Republic period (1912–1949).
The vase retains an old paper label from Emery & Cie, Paris, providing an interesting European provenance and illustrating its presence in the French art market during the 20th century.
Beijing glass, also known as Peking glass, became highly regarded for its vibrant colours and skilled craftsmanship. This example combines a striking geometric silhouette with the luminous quality of cobalt-blue glass, making it an attractive decorative object and a fine addition to a collection of Chinese decorative arts.
