A Chinese ‘egg-and-spinach’ glazed porcelain vase — Daoguang marked and from the period (1821–1850)

A Chinese ‘egg-and-spinach’ glazed porcelain vase — Daoguang marked and from the period (1821–1850)

This porcelain vase is finished in the classic egg-and-spinach glaze, a traditional Qing-dynasty palette noted for its expressive, painterly application and lively mottled surface.

The piece is shaped as a Xiangtuiping (also known as Tongping), a slender “sleeve” form defined by its straight cylindrical body and gently flaring rim.

The base bears an impressed Daoguang reign mark, consistent with fired examples from the imperial kilns, confirming that the vase is marked and from the period.
