A Japanese six-panel screen with hand-painted silk scenes by six artists – Meiji/Taishō period (circa 1900–1920
A refined six-panel folding screen painted on silk, each section signed and sealed by a different artist.
Each panel bears the artist’s signature and red seal:
Shōtei (松亭) – a tranquil garden conversation.
Shunchō (春潮) – scholars gathered beneath autumn foliage.
Hōki (奉岐) – elegant court ladies in traditional attire.
Kosen (湖仙) – noblemen resting in the grassland.
Bokukō (墨江) – fishermen beneath a willow tree.
Shizuka (静) – a solitary lady gazing at the moon.
The silver background and balanced compositions reflect refined aesthetics and painterly discipline, likely associated with a Kyoto Nihonga or Shijō school circle, active in the early 20th century.
